I dont beleive in religion

My name is Carl Lewis in my blog i am going to be making posts about religion and my own beliefs or lack there of in religion of any kind i was brought up in a catholic family so religion has always been around me but from a young age I found it very difficult to believe as to me most religious story sound more fitting in fantasy than real life I personally have most experience of the catholic and church of England which are both churches of the christian religion other religions I don't have as much knowledge of however if any other religion is mentioned in any of my posts I will be doing my up most to keep all information accurate and from reliable sources generally the information contained will be challenging religion and religious beliefs and try to put across my opinion and try to support it with fact, evidence and proof which I feel religion fails to do an example off this is my second post on the blog entitled Adam and Eve vs evolution where I have challenged the story of creation in the Christian religion this is the general theme I will be taking so each post i write will be looking at one particular story or area of any particular religion and I will give my opinion and try and support it as best as i can as well as trying to talk about my views on religion I would be interested to here others views on religion and any ideas for posts will be great fully accepted also people who believe in religion are welcome to contact me with there opinion on religion or there opinion about my views on religion
anything in my posts is not meant to offend any religion only to give my view
RELIGION what is your opinion .

Adam and Eve Vs Evolution

hey everyone has enyone been thinking what i have this hole religion thing is kinda full of holes i myself was christened catholic however from my early teens i have not believed it I personaly think that it holds about as much water as fairys or santa clause there is just no real evidence to support it however there seems to be alot to support everything i believe to be true like evelution and science, evelution in my opinion proves that the very foundation of at least the christian faith ,The garden of Eden Adam and Eve can not possibly be true this states that God created the earth in 7 days however fossils and carbon dating and other scientific methods tell a different story homo sapiens (humans) have only been around roughly 200,000 years .
The oldest rocks which have been found so far (on the Earth) date to about 3.8 to 3.9 billion years ago some of these rocks are sedimentary and contain minerals that are 4.2 billion years old with this in mind we have to asume the Earth must be at least as old as any formation on it and obviously there is a wide variaty of life inbetween the time before us including the diosaurs so I think its quite safe to say that the wole Garden of eden story is nonsense with nothing to back it up but a book i am open to other opinions but to date I have heard nothing that would convince me other wise it seem to me that in by gone days religion was used to explain a world that no one understood not like we do today another thought I have is that possibly it may have been used by figures of authorety as a way of controling the masses but times have changed and the evidence is there but still alot of people believe .
When it was discovered in 1492 that the earth wasnt flat but round i am sure back then people didnt believe it however now im sure everyone knows its round maybe it will be the same with religion.
would like feedback from anyone with an opinion of this wether like minded or not i am no expert i just have my opinions and would be very keen to here others.

why would anyone still believe in religion

I cant understand why in this day and age with all the scientific proof of how we are here that people still feel that they need to turn to religion, as i cant see any proof of it existing and alot that proves it doesnt, obviously this is a very sensitive issue to some and all are welcomed to forward their opinion.
